based on とon the basis ofの違いについて

「based on…」における「based」は過去分詞であり、 「on…」の前置詞句とともに過去分詞句を
構成します。一般に、過去分詞（句）は形容詞として機能し、名詞を修飾するものです。
一方、「on the basis of…」は（複合）前置詞句であり、名詞と動詞をともに修飾することができます。

というわけで、「We proceed based on the method described above.」や「Based on the above results, we conclude that A = B.」は誤っており、
「We proceed on the basis of the method described above.」、「On the basis of the above results, we conclude that A = B.」が正しいです。

一方、「This method is based on the analysis described in Ref.[1].」と「This is a conclusion based on empirical results.」は「based on」の典型的な正しい用法を例示します。
